MAHA UK is delighted to announce that it will be continuing its long-term partnership with four-time 750 Motor Club champion, David Drinkwater, throughout 2023.
Wisbech, Cambridgeshire – 24th March 2023. The commanding pairing of the MAHA-emblazoned BMW E36 Compact and David were unbeatable in 2022, securing maximum points from 14 Hot Hatch Championship races, and while they were the class of the field last season, David is anticipating a tough and competitive season ahead:
“After winning the title four years on the trot, 750 Motor Club has revealed that it will impose a success ballast of 45kgs if I choose to stay in Class C in Hot Hatch; therefore, claiming a fifth championship is likely to be even harder against my talented and seasoned opponents.”
This season is going to be another busy one for David, with entries into 750 Motor Club Hot Hatch and Roadsports championships, as well as the BRSCC ClubSport Trophy, SuperSport Endurance and C1 Endurance series – including a marathon 24-hour race!
In fact, the season has already got underway for David and the MAHA decorated BMW E36 Compact – and it was an imperious start with a win in Class E of the ClubSport race at Silverstone last weekend.
David then switched cockpits for the first C1 Endurance race of the season; after an incident-packed qualifying session, which left him and his co-driver, Andy Mollison, 40th on the grid, they recovered well to take the chequered flag in sixth place.
David said it was “great to brush off the cobwebs” after a tough winter and “give the new engine and gearbox a test in racing conditions”. In pre-season, the BMW E36 Compact’s engine and gearbox were both replaced; aside from a track-day and vital time on the MAHA 500 dynamometer, Silverstone was the first time the new car had been driven in anger.
MAHA UK continues to follow the paddock!
Once again, MAHA UK’s dynamometer expert, Louis Tunmore, will be accompanying the MAHA UK FPS 2700 dynamometer at each round of 750 Motor Club. Since 2015, the championship has employed the services of MAHA UK’s dynamometers for its scrutineering, due to the accuracy and repeatability offered.
Louis said: “It’s vital that rules and regulations are followed to ensure fairness and safety, whether that be ‘power to weight’, classification or power caps, and our dynos are trusted to help implement those.
“What’s more, they are used at race meetings to help ‘spot test’ cars in conjunction with a weight-check.”
